Kathryn Reith Blake, a native of Huntingdon Quebec, is a graduate of McGill University and of the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. In the mid-seventies she and a handful of North American paper artists initiated the 'International Association of Handmade Paper Artists'. Since that time handmade paper has grown from an obscure craft to a universally accepted art medium. Kathryn has continued to develop her skills and her clientele has grown to include governments, Statespersons, celebrities and major corporations. A choral, printed on silk papers created by Ms. Blake, was presented to the Pope on his visit to North America.
She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions all over the world. Kathryn evolved methods of weaving florals and fibers into handmade papers. These techniques have become a hallmark of her style. Ms Blake is an internationally recognized creative paper artist and was commissioned by the Walt Disney Corporation to create the replicas of 17th century papers used in the Disney film, 'A Scarlet Letter'. The 'Wildflower Collection' has been acknowledged by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as original art. Kathryn's work is presented to visiting dignitaries by external affairs as a gift and as such, represents our country internationally.Bailfield Farm, Ketch Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, BOJ 1XO .
