Downey Serviceberry

Also known as the Shad Blow and Flowering Dogwood, the Serviceberry, a tree or shrub with white star shaped flowers, is found throughout eastern North America as far west as mid continent. It blooms in early spring in most soils in hardwood forests. The blossom, a slender white five petal terminal cluster, blooms before the slender stalks leaf out. The Serviceberry is sometimes planted as an ornamental.
