GrainCALC© Demo Software
OVERVIEW
GrainCalc automates the process of calculating and printing, 'as loaded', stability & trim, righting levers, longitudinal bending moments and volumetric moments for grain cargoes. A similar program called LoadCalc is available and performs the same calculations but without the provision for grain cargoes.
The software consists of three bundled elements:
TECHNICAL
The demo is supplied as the compressed file: GRAINDEM.ZIP. To install and run create a directory called \GDEMO on your hard drive, download GRAINDEM.ZIP from our FTP site into that directory and using PKUNZIP.EXE un-compress the file. It will un-compress into GRAINCAL.EXE and a number of data(.DAT) and key(.K01) files. For GrainCalc to run the CONFIG.SYS on your system must have as a minimum:
Otherwise an error to do with not enough file handles will display when the program starts.
To run the demo ensure that you are in \GDEMO and at the prompt type GRAINCAL {Enter}.
The Up and Down arrow keys navigate through the menus and data entry fields, {Enter} completes a field, F10 saves a screen, {Esc} exits without saving and at any field which is entered from an authority table, ie:(Ports or Ullage), F2 triggers a 'point and shoot' select table. The Function Key options and navigation keys are displayed either along the bottom or to the side of each screen.
OPERATION
From the Main Menu the 'Setup' selection leads to a number of tables that are set up to store Light Ship, Hydrostatic, KN/KG, Tank, Hold/Ullage and Cellular particulars. This data is entered once for each vessel and up to 99 vessels can be stored in the database. The 'Load/Discharge' selection allows for the 'as loaded' condition to be entered for Cargo, Fuel and Stores. The 'Final Stability' selection does the calculations and prepares an GZ curve corrected for any volumetric moments.
The demo is a fully working program with the only restriction being that it will only read the sample data supplied. Any questions can be directed to compass@navnet.net.
