The
rugged terrain and spectacular coastlines of Nova Scotia offer a
wealth of distinctive rock-climbing regions. But without accurate
and organized information, climbers have had considerable difficulty
setting up systematic explorations of the provinces countless cliffs
and crags; they have had to rely on word of mouth to find the many
climbs waiting for them.
All
that has changed-with the publication of Climb Nova Scotia. Its
author, Sean Willett, has incorporated a lifetime of rock-climbing
experience into this ground- breaking guide. Meticulously researched,
this book provides detailed descriptions of dozens of climbing routes,
from Liverpool to the Eastern Shore, and offers fascinating insights
into the geology and history of rock-climbing in Nova Scotia.
Sean
Willett grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he took up climbing
at an early age. Since coming to Nova Scotia in 1988, he has split
his time between geophysics research at Dalhousie University and
Rock- climbing. Willett has repeated nearly all of the documented
climbs in the region and has established about twenty first ascents.
He has also helped to convey his passion for climbing to others
through climbing instruction, volunteer work with Climb Nova Scotia
Association, and, finally, through the compilation of this guide.
